The role

This is a role for an experienced gas engineer who wants to come off the tools without leaving the trade. You will be the person who checks that every service sheet, gas safety record and installation we complete is right, supports our engineers when they hit something unusual on site, and keeps our compliance in good order.

It is a new role for us. As the business grows we want a proper second pair of eyes on our work and a technical point of contact our engineers can ring, rather than the office trying to answer gas questions it should not be answering.

What you'll be doing

  • Desktop-audit completed service sheets, CP12s and installation records for accuracy, completeness and compliance
  • Review installation photos and readings and raise anything that needs a return visit
  • Be the technical point of contact for our engineers by phone during the working day
  • Support the office with technical questions from customers, giving clear answers and reassurance
  • Keep our appliance and site records accurate in SimPro as audits are completed
  • Track audit findings over time and feed back to engineers where standards can be raised
  • Liaise with Gas Safe Register on inspections and follow up any actions
  • Help set and maintain our internal procedures, including gas escape and unsafe situation reporting

What we need from you

  • Current Gas Safe registration with ACS: CCN1 and CENWAT
  • At least five years’ experience installing, servicing and repairing domestic gas boilers
  • Thorough knowledge of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, Building Regulations and manufacturer requirements
  • A careful eye for detail and the confidence to say when something is not right
  • Comfortable with office software and job-management systems
  • Full UK driving licence

Nice to have

  • Unvented hot water (G3), LPG or other appliance qualifications
  • Experience supervising, mentoring or auditing other engineers
  • Familiarity with SimPro or similar job-management software

How it works

  • Based at our Deal office with the rest of the team - this is not a remote role
  • A normal working week is desk-based, with occasional site visits to see work first-hand
  • You report directly to the owner and will help shape how the role develops
